November 2008 : Publication of a handbook on the care of children with multidisabilities in Russian orphanages
As part of the project "Humanization and Opening of Orphanages for disabled Children in Russia", the Regional Delegation for Europe and CIS published a handbook entitled "Ideas and methods for the Rehabilitation of a department for children with PIMD : The Sergyev Possad orphanage experiment 2006-2008".
The purpose of the handbook is to increase the professionals and authorities' awareness and introduce them to new methods, theories and experiments in the care of children with multidisabilities, elements that Russian society could adapt and reproduce.
The Central Research Institute of Health organization and normalization (coming under the Ministry of health and social development of the Russian Federation) is currently taking care of the handbook distribution to Russian health and social authorities.
